Marine and port construction

Project overview

Construction of La Ceiba Port, including the driving of 230 steel piles of 26 inches and the construction of prefabricated slabs and beams. The construction was completed in one year without interfering with the operations of ships from the other port.

The Challenge

Build a new port while maintaining the existing port in operation, coordinating marine works to avoid interfering with the other port's ship manoeuvres.

Vialpa Scope

Driving of 230 steel piles of 26 inches, construction of prefabricated slabs and beams, and marine works associated with the port infrastructure.

Engineering / Construction Approach

Phased work scheduling to maintain the operational continuity of the existing port, using prefabricated elements to optimize structural assembly over water.

Operational Constraints

No interference with the other port's ship operations during construction. Complete project execution within a one-year timeframe.
